Located in a serene, wooded setting just off Route 15 in Mechanicsburg, PA, OakWood Center’s one-story design and easy parking adjacent to the entrance relieves patients and their families from worry about traffic and accessibility. OakWood first opened it doors in October, 1987 as a joint venture among three partners; Holy Spirit Health System, Capital Health System and two area medical oncologists. Each saw the need for a radiation therapy facility to serve the West Shore and surrounding Capital Region communities. Over the years, the clinic has expanded, new technology added, and existing technology upgraded or replaced.

OakWood Center sees on average 400 new patients a year and in 2006 administered over 10,000 treatments.

OakWood Center’s Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Milito, partners with Holy Spirit Health Systems to offer the latest in treatment technology and expertise. The clinic is equipped to administer IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy) and 3-D conformal external beam radiotherapy, in addition to HDR brachytherapy, IGRT (Image Guided Radiotherapy), and partial breast treatment. B-mode Acquisition and Targeting Ultrasound (BAT) further increases treatment precision.
